Keerti Pendyal

Dr. Keerti Pendyal completed his PhD from IIM Calcutta in the area of Public Policy and Management. His research is focused on Standard Essential Patents, a specific category of patent rights used in the high-tech sectors of semiconductors, electronics, information & communication. He studies the anti-trust issues that arise out of the patents’ owners having this kind of market power and how these issues are compounded by the rights of the companies by owning the intellectual property, particularly from an Indian context. He is also interested in the banking system and its evolution, particularly with the adoption of new technologies by the system and its adaptation to these technologies as well as the resulting challenges.

Dr. Pendyal was awarded the prestigious Shastri Research Student Fellowship for doctoral students. His papers were selected for presentation at multiple prestigious international conferences. He has taught courses on the Global Political Economy; The Banking System; and Management. Before joining IIM Calcutta for his PhD, Dr. Pendyal worked with top organizations like Ernst & Young and ISB. He also had an entrepreneurial stint where his clients included top B-Schools of India like FMS New Delhi and SIBM Bangalore. As a student, he has secured top positions in all-India competitive exams including CAT 2004 (with a score of 100 percentile in 2 out of the 3 sections), ICWAI Foundation (Rank 2), ICWAI Intermediate (Rank 8), and IIT-JEE (Rank 29). Besides his passion for teaching, Dr. Pendyal is an avid traveller having driven across the length and breadth of India visiting new places.
