Justice J. Chelameswar, Judge (Retd.) On 17th September, at an online event emphasised the Supreme Court’s crucial role of history in creating a society. He asserted that democracy is a system of government, and to create a just and lawful society; the aim should be democratic governance. He also engaged with questions of power and concluded that if not checked, power can corrupt the system and adversely affect the functioning of society. As young lawyers, students were suggested to work to create a more trustworthy, transparent and accountable society for the people.
