Dr. Visalakshi Talakokula is presently working as professor at Mahindra Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, prior to this, she was the founding head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Bennett University. She is honorary secretary of Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStrucE) and executive member of Indian concrete institute (ICI), Governing council member of Women in Science and Engineering (STEM) India. She has a rich academic experience of more than 18 years and 5 years with industry. Her research interests lie primarily in structural health monitoring using piezo sensors, development of sustainable building materials, she is working on durability aspects of sustainable and green concretes such as “GEOPLOLYMER CONCRTE” which is a cement free concrete and Lime stone Calcined Clay Concretes (LC3) for the Indian environments. Her work also includes green wall panels and future house building materials using straw, bamboo to reduce the environmental pollution as a part of the ongoing DST- IMPRINT 2 project tiled” Development of Engineered Bamboo Structures Technology For Modular Rural Housing Towards Sustainable Built Environment”.

Her research has been published in peer reviewed international and national journals, She has also co-authored a book “Piezoelectric Materials, Application in SHM, Energy harvesting and Bio Mechanics” (Wiley publication). She has received various awards, among them include Best Paper award at Corrosion conf. and Expo. CORCON 2012, Best Paper award at National Civil Engineers Symposium (IIT Bombay) 2013, Best poster award at ICTRAM 2012. She is contributing as an active technical member in international committees of Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM) for (i) Carbonation of concrete with supplementary cementitious materials Calcined Clays as Supplementary Cementitious Materials, Chloride transport in alkali-activated materials.
